An untrained dog can undo a lot of your efforts when it comes to gardening and landscaping plants. Finding your bulbs, flowers or lawn dug up can put a strain on your relationship with "Rover", and possibly your neighbors.

Cats don't dig as much as a dog, but they do like to leave unwanted deposits in freshly worked soil and sandboxes. Both Cat & Dog urine as well as droppings can be harmful to some plants and unhealthy in the vegetable garden.

A fence is probably the best way to contain a dog or keep it out of your garden. Training your pets to stay away from certain areas with the help of a mechanical or chemical aid has been found to be quite effective. Motion sensing water spraying devices have also been found to work very well on both dogs and cats.
