Roundup Quick Pro - 5 Pack | 5-packages of (1.5 oz.) Roundup QuikPro Dry Herbicide with Diquat and Glyphosate
Dry concentrate non-selective herbicide which combines the systemic action of Glyphosate (active ingredient in Roundup, Rodeo, Gallup and others) with quick knockdown power of Diquat.
Quikpro is one of the newer products designed by Monsanto, one which has been highly anticipated by agricultural and turf industries as well as the general public.
Roundup has long been a trusted product to use when total vegetation kill of both weeds and grasses is needed. One of the more desirable characteristics of Roundup is its ability to provide a quick and thorough kill of undesirable vegetation without lingering in the soil for long periods of time. Diquat has been added to Roundup (in this formulation) to provide customers with a faster kill. Long time users of Diquat prefer its ability to give a quick burn down of plant leaves and (as is seen with Glyphosate) its lack of undesirable residual in surrounding soil.
Heavy herbicides such as Trimec, Manage and Image can remain in the soil for several weeks, making it difficult to sod or seed new lawns or plant other desirable vegetation after a short time lapse between spraying and replanting. Glyphosate and Diquat (the active ingredients in Quikpro herbicide) do not remain in the soil for such long periods. New plants can usually be planted a couple of weeks after applying Quickpro herbicide.
Product Description:
This product is a post emergent, systemic herbicide with no soil residual activity. It is generally non-selective and gives broad spectrum control of many annual weeds, perennial weeds, woody brush and trees. It is formulated as a water-soluble granule containing surfactant and no additional surfactant is needed or recommended. It may be applied through most standard sprayers after dissolution and thorough mixing with water according to label directions.
Time to Symptoms:
This product moves through the plant from the point of foliage contact to and into the root system. Visible effects on most annual weeds occur within 1 day and on most perennial weeds in 2 days. Extremely cool or cloudy weather following treatment may slow activity of this product and delay development of visible symptoms. Visible effects are a quick yellowing of the foliage which advances to complete browning of above ground growth and deterioration of underground plant parts.
Mode of Action:
One of the active ingredients in this product inhibits an enzyme found only in plants and microorganisms that is essential to formation of specific amino acids. A second active ingredient rapidly disrupts cell integrity of photosynthetically active tissues in the contacted foliage. [Glyphosate kills roots; Diquat kills leaves.]
Cultural Considerations:
Reduced control may result when applications are made to annual or perennial weeds that have been mowed, grazed or cut, and have not been allowed to re-grow to the recommended stage for treatment.
Rainfastness: Heavy rainfall soon after treatment application may wash this product off of the foliage and a repeat application may be required for adequate control.
Spray Coverage:
For best results, spray coverage should be uniform and complete. Do not spray weed foliage to the point of runoff.
No Soil Activity:
Weeds must be emerged at time of application to be controlled by this product. Weeds germinating from seed after application will not be controlled. Un-emerged plants arising from unattached underground rhizomes or rootstocks of perennials will not be affected by the herbicide and continue to grow.
Compare with Roundup Pro Dry
Both Roundup Pro Dry and Quikpro contain Glyphosate, a systemic non-selective herbicide that enters the targeted plant through the leaves and translocates (moves through the plant) to the plant roots. Plant roots are killed by the herbicide, therefore killing the plant. These products are also comparable in their type of formulation and packaging. They are dry concentrated crystals that are mixed with water to form a solution. Boxes contain 5 packets of concentrated materials; most people use 1 packet per gallon of water but they can be mixed stronger or weaker than this rate.
The active ingredient in Roundup Pro Dry is 71.40% Glyphosate.
In Quikpro, the active ingredients are 73.30% Glyphosate and 2.90% Diquat.
As noted above, Glyphosate systemic moves through plants, killing the root system. Diquat is not a systemic herbicide but, rather, kills the plant at the leaves or blades. Simply put, Glyphosate and Diquat combine to attack unwanted weeds and grasses from top to bottom.
Quikpro costs more than Roundup Pro Dry, but will give a faster kill than regular Glyphosate products.
Many people prefer to mix Roundup products with Scythe Herbicide to achieve a faster burn-down of grasses and young weeds. With Quikpro, using Scythe is still an option but not always needed.
Quikpro Roundup Dry is packaged in a box containing 5 packets of dry concentrated herbicide. Each packet contains 1.5 ounces of concentrate and makes 1 to 2 gallons of herbicide solution.
